Activities at any skilled nursing facility are a vital part of the residents’ mental and physical health. Activities are where residents can build bonds between themselves and with the staff. Our dedicated team of employees is committed to providing a home-like experience for our residents! At Blackville Healthcare & Rehabilitation, we love our staff and our residents, and wanted to share some of the love from our activities team from the month of February!
On February 11th, the residents and staff enjoyed a socially-distanced Valentine’s Day Celebration. For lunch, all were served steak, baked potatoes, and the works. That afternoon, residents enjoyed all kinds of goodies, including chocolate-dipped strawberries, cake, and punch. Residents and staff voted for this year’s Valentines’s Day Queen, and King, and crowned Joe Harley and Glenda Badgerow were crowned during the event.
Despite COVID, we continue to engage residents in activities each day to ensure our residents remain active and happy. Our Activities Director, Tara Tyler, works with the entire staff to ensure that every resident’s contact is a true “touch” and enhances their daily lives. Our team has worked tirelessly through the very challenging last 12 months to innovate and keep our residents happy and healthy. Tara engaged team members to begin a weekly staff appreciation “Pastry Day”. Various teams of employees provide different components for a quick brunch each week, including pastries, fresh fruit, juices, etc. It is an opportunity to take a few minutes to unwind and breathe, and in the last five weeks, it has been a huge hit. We love the staff at Blackville Healthcare and Rehabilitation, and they show daily their love of our residents.
